Donating precious metals such as gold and silver is easy. The best and safest way to ship gold and silver is by using the United States Postal Service's Registered Mail service.
Why USPS Registered Mail? USPS Registered Mail offers the pinnacle of both safety and insurance. You can get up to $25,000 of insurance per Registered Mail parcel.
FedEx and UPS does not offer insurance for precious metals.
As precious metals can be heavy, you may want to double box your precious metals shipment. Get two boxes from USPS. One box should fit inside the other. If the items you are shipping are loose, wrap them with bubble wrap or crumpled up newspaper. We will use caution when opening your shipment.

Often well meaning Post Office employees will try to save shippers money and suggest Insured Mail on shipments valued less than $5,000. Do not let them talk you out of using Registered Mail. The small savings they may be trying to offer you could by costly if a shipment is lost.
